Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, and is one of the highest in the world, standing at 19,340ft or 5895m; that's almost 4 1/2 Ben Nevis'. It's the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, and number 4 of the 7 summits.
This is not just a walk in the national park, sorry, couldn't help myself :-); the whole expedition will take 6 days, walking 8 hours a day for 5 of those, and 14 hours on summit day!!! Temperatures will range from 30c at the base to sub-zero temperatures at the summit.
I will be thinking up some brilliant fundraising ideas throughout the year, including a skills-pledge and fitness events, and most likely a few others. I'll keep you all updated on here and on my facebook page.
There will be a team of us scaling the mountain, all trying to raise money for Sparks. Please please please help me reach my target of £3750 by sponsoring me, and help support a Charity that improves medical research and ultimately makes the lives of thousands of children better each year! Thank-you
